The TV-series MASTER OF THE SEA (“Sjøsprøyt”) has moved up and is to be aired on NRK’s primary channel NRK1. It premieres on October 28 this year.

The passed year the production company Medvind Media AS, partly owned by the Tromsø company JAB Film, have been working on the first season of a new concept. This is a documentary TV-series about students attending the sailor program, in Malangen in Troms, Norway.

The show was picked up by NRK and a long time ago it was decided to air at NRK3. Now however, it has been moved to the main channel NRK1 premiering October 28.

– The move from NRK3 to NRK1 is a very good sign! This TV-series is mainly targeted at a youth audience; witch is s very tough niche to get into. NRK have been working to conquer some new ground in this area and this show has what it takes to fill that spot, John Arvid Berger of JAB film explains.

The TV-series consist of 6 episodes, 44 minutes each. There has also been made a Russian version focusing on the Russian students attending the program, consisting of 12 episodes, 15 minutes each. This alternate version has also gained distribution in Russia.

- We are now about to complete the editing of the first series. And we have already been asked to do a second season; beginning shooting this autumn, says Berger.
– The TV-series segment is an attractive part of the business to be working in. The competition is hard, and it is not easy to gain access.

Berger believes that joining forces with Medvind Media AS (Oslo) is a good way of exchanging skilled workforce cross country, as well as insuring jobs and skills development in the TV field in the North of Norway.

- Through this production JAB Film will, as a part owner of Medvind Media AS, be developing our expertise, as well as gaining reputation in the rest of the country, explains Berger.
