Hello, welcoming the site and every contributor!
Chronicle by Kirst Westerbotn
Film Arc is one of the most exciting news in the area at the moment.
Getting to know many inspiring & experienced people across the borders is to me a great way of exploring the film making scene up north.
Technology and everything being on the move, still story telling and people remain in focus, the way to tell the stories & the tools are expanding. Anybody seeking back into history will find whatever inspiration they are looking for in someway, however every creative output will somehow be marked by the period its produced in, by sorrundings society, age, culture, background & flow whether in theme, style or production prosess, I believe.
So whats up in Scandinavian society... quite amazing statistics from The International Survey Program says that 53 % of norwegians agrees that the authority should be allowed to keep a person in custody for as long as they want without trial, only based on a suspicion of terrorist crime. Well, so much for democracy. Same figures for swedes are 35%, while Brittain is on top with 68% and Taiwan at the bottom with 18%.
Same question about if telephone surveillence should be allowed by authority, Denmark, Norway and Sweden rule on top of list with agreement of 89,86 and 82 %, phu. The state of things in Finland I dont know as it seems the country was not part of this enquiry, NSD; 'Ja til strengere tiltak mot terror'.
Not getting that much news from Finland actually in national norwegian media, however the latest one was a statistic that put Finland at the end of list as attractive for norwegian tourists, well I guess they just forgot to ask above the artic circle, Finland being packed with people from northern norway during summer, lucky just not to run into your neighbour... so much for statistics.
As to creative stuff music & social documentaries will be in focus from Orange Production. Now being 12 years in the field of television, photography & documentary I am still welcoming any inspiration challenging my thoughts. I believe the crew is the power of any film made and filmarc got it all so, get on with it people!
Some projects call for long time endurance, heres a clip to cheer you all up. From the documentary "On Any Sunday, (1971)" a time of innocence, pioneers & good commentary.
