Nordisk Panorama from the eyes of a rookie
It was first but not in any case the last Nordisk Panorama for me and Flatlight Films. It was also really exciting first visit to Iceland. It’s been one of the must-to-go locations I have had in my list. Nordisk Panorama was good combination of short films, documentaries, seminars and most importantly people from around the world in the industry.
The whole event was well organized and people were really helpful and supporting. Lot of great movies. Especially The Red Chappel and Videocracy documentaries were two I really liked. The first one ended up winning the main prize for documentary film.
Also Rip – The Remix Manifesto was one I really enjoyed. The whole open source thing they have going on is really interesting. I’m waiting for people to become actively changing the normal ways of financing and marketing films. Congratulations for 1000 stories and Antti Haase for winning the open source award. That’s the future of filmmaking.

Too bad I didn’t have time to see many of the great short films shown there. I spend most of the time seeing documentaries and attending Outlooks. Outlooks were really interesting and bringing a lot of great ideas. From in flight entertainment, academy awards, optional distribution options to film festivals. A lot of new information and goals for future.
One of the best things was to meet all the great people from the scandinavia. Many new people for future collaborations. The trip was great for Flatlight Films also because of a client meeting with local company. Might be another longer trip to Iceland in march coming up!
