The Next Event – Part I

talare_next-eventJohan Ronnestamm and Wednesday relations arranged Next Event at Södra Teatern in Stockholm. The day was packed with short lectures about the future of communication. Here is a resume of the day.

Mats Gustafsson

Mats had a short introduction about the event and Wednesday relations. Wednesday relations is a network for people that is working with marketing and sales.

Johan Ronnestam

Johan talked about the vision behind The Next Event, to inspire and discuss communication and to look at what is happening in the society today.

People are using social media more and more and in those social platforms traditional marketing strategies do not apply. Young people now what four things in their product. Entertainment, innovation, creativity and interaction. That means than brands now have to be a part of the social media rather then only sending out a one way message, like a commercial or ad.

Peter Lilliehöök

Peter is a historian and he talked about communication and branding from a historical point of wiew.

Peters blog Stockholmiana.

Per Torberger

Per is communicator / copywriter in his own company One Man Show. He talked about the media industry and what kind of problems they are facing. One of the main problems being the low profit from on-line newspapers and the declining sell of traditional newspapers. There are no established ways to get paid for online material.

Per showed a complex schedules of challenges facing the industry. Maybe it is the concept of a newspaper that is an old way of thinking? What the actual solution will be is yet to be seen.

Leo Razzak

Leo was one of the true inspirers of the day. When other people talk about communication he communicated and really engaged the audience. He talked about Fryshuset and the Fryshuset spirit. Fryshuset was established 1984 and have 400 employees working with young people.

Leo talked about how to think in new ways and break old patterns. He also empizised the importance of creating a relation with people if you want to create change.

Elia Mörling

Elia is the founder of Tribaling. He talked about future target groups as tribes. Tribes are according to Elias a group of people, but not to be confused with a subculture. It is more a group of people sharing a passion, or having strong feeling for something.

Elias message was that today companies still work with their marketing towards individuals when they should work with tribes. Be a part of it as much as possible and contribute to the tribe. Words of wisdom from Elia was, think of your brand as social glue.
