New International TV-series from Northern Norway

August 31st, 2009 by admin. Tags: , ,

jab2In August, 10 students from different backgrounds came together in Malangen, a remote village above the Arctic Circle in Norway.

Why? To prepare for a difficult sailing trip by themselves trough the tricky streams of the Norwegian sea.

How? By attending one year of the boarding school 69 Degrees North, and learning sailing and survival skills in the wilderness.

TV star Jarle Andhøy from “Berserk” will challenge the youth by testing their physical and mental abilities in the spectacular mountains and rivers of the north. Will they manage the ordeals?

JAB Film will document their journey, and autumn 2010 you can see what happens!  The TV series will screen at NRK in Norway, and various channels in Russia.

jab1JAB Film is a production company based in Tromsø, Norway.  The idea for the TV series was founded by Anders Sæther from Widescreen Media and John Arvid Berger from JAB Film. Anders is also directing.  Elisabeth Rasmussen from JAB Film is coordinating the production.

Together they are now forming a new company named Medvind Media AS a special purpose company for this production. They have currently finished week two of the shooting, and have been high and low capturing the teenagers and school staff’s exiting days in Malangen.

The following week a big operation is taking place, where the national rescue company will bring helicopters and boats to teach the kids about safety at sea.

-         We look forward to telling you about who got thrown in the water and saved again! (Let’s just hope it’s not the cameraman), says Elisabeth Rasmussen.
